Approaching from the North.
Travel south along the A74M. Head towards Carlisle along the A74.
At Carlisle follow the road lanes for the West or signs for Workington
and Whitehaven. Follow the A595 out of Carlisle for Cockermouth.
Continue south past Cockermouth following signs for Workington and Whitehaven. Follow the A595 past Egremont and turn left at the sign
for Gosforth. Drive through Gosforth and take the first fork right for
Santon Bridge and Eskdale. Continue along this road past Santon
Bridge and over the Hill. Bower House Inn is on the right.
Approaching from the South.
Exit M6 at junction 36 Take A590 heading towards Barrow in Furness
via Newby Bridge. Turn right at sign for Whitehaven and Workington
on to A595. Follow A595 as far as Broughton in Furness. Continue
past Broughton in Furness for a quarter of a mile. Turn right of A595
just before the traffic light controlled bridge and follow fell road up
the Duddon valley. After passing over a bridge take the second
turning left for Eskdale and Whitehaven. Follow this road over Ulpha
fell and down into Eskdale, continue along this road through Eskdale
Green Village. Bower House Inn is on the left a quarter of a mile
outside Eskdale Green.
